Aquarium
Tools for cycling, dosing, and maintaining a freshwater tank, built from real fishkeeping guidance instead of rules of thumb.
Most of the failure points in a new aquarium happen in the first few weeks, before the tank has enough beneficial bacteria to process fish waste on its own. This hub covers that setup window in detail: cycling a tank from scratch, dosing ammonia correctly for a fishless cycle, curing new live rock before it goes in a reef tank, and quarantining new fish long enough to catch problems before they reach your main display.
Every calculator here names the actual source it's built on, whether that's a fishkeeping organization's published cycling guidance or a documented chemistry formula, and links to it. Where a formula is our own reasonable interpolation rather than a published curve, the tool's "how this is calculated" section says so directly instead of implying more precision than the underlying science actually supports.
Nitrogen cycle timeline calculator
Estimate how long your freshwater tank will take to cycle based on your cycling method, water temperature, and pH. Based on INJAF and API Fishcare cycling guidance.
Verified formulaFishless cycle ammonia dosing calculator
Calculate exactly how much ammonia solution to add to your tank to hit a target ppm for a fishless cycle, based on your tank size and solution strength.
Verified formulaReef tank live rock curing timeline calculator
Estimate how long it will take to cure live rock before adding it to a reef tank, based on how uncured the rock is and your curing tank's temperature.
Verified formulaAquarium fish quarantine timeline calculator
Find out how long to quarantine a new fish before adding it to your main tank, based on where the fish came from, with an exact release date.
Verified formulaCO2/pH/KH calculator
Estimate dissolved CO2 (ppm) from your pH and KH readings using both the classic fixed-pKa formula and a temperature-compensated version, with shrimp-safe injection guidance.
